We make custom laser cut silicon carbide grip tape to work with this product.

The Kiral Defense™ Reduced Angle Backstrap for Glock® Pistols is an innovative upgrade designed to enhance your pistol’s ergonomics and recoil management. It was developed in conjunction with members of the two largest police departments in western Michigan and officially approved for duty use by those departments and other elite federal agencies. By reducing the grip angle to more closely match a 1911, the Reduced Angle Backstrap improves the natural point of aim, reduces wrist strain, and enhances weapon control during high-stress engagements.

Three versions of the backstrap are available for Glock® Gen4, Gen5, and V models 17, 17L, 19, 19X, 22, 23, 26, 27, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 44, 45, 47, 49: the original 2-piece shock-absorbing version has an injection molded rubber insert for greater comfort and stability and is best for users with medium to large hands due to its wider design; the Low Profile 2-piece shock-absorbing version has slimmer sides for easier magazine release and slide lock manipulation and should fit most hand sizes; and the smaller 1-piece version is a much thinner design without the rubber insert that is suitable for most hand sizes and provides a shorter trigger reach. If you are unsure which product to order, place the factory-supplied “M” marked backstrap on your pistol and decide if the trigger reach is acceptable (you should consider one of our 2-piece backstraps) or too long (you should consider our 1-piece backstrap).

The version for Glock® Gen1-3 models 17, 17L, 19, 22, 23, 24, 26, GlockStore 26X/M1X frame, 27, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 37 is a slim, one-piece design without a rubber insert and is suitable for most hand sizes.

Two versions of the backstrap are available for Glock® 43X and 48. The original is a 2-piece shock absorbing design and includes an injection molded rubber insert for greater comfort and stability. Its design increases the trigger reach to mimic a Glock® 19, providing substantially greater trigger control for better accuracy, and it is suitable for use with most hand sizes. The smaller 1-piece version is a more rounded-edge design without the rubber insert that is suitable for most hand sizes and provides a shorter trigger reach. If you are unsure which product to order, it is best to find a Glock® 19 and see if the trigger reach is acceptable (you should consider the 2-piece backstrap) or too long (you should consider our 1-piece backstrap).

Laser cut silicon carbide granulate tape is available separately for enhanced grip in all weather conditions and is suitable for both carry and competition.

  • Failsafe Design and Nonpermanent Installation: The firearm remains fully functional even if the backstrap is damaged or removed. Importantly, for professional users who must comply with organizational rules on weapon modifications, the installation does not permanently alter the weapon.
  • Natural Grip Angle: Unlike the factory Glock® design that forces your wrists to overextend downwards, this backstrap adjusts the grip angle to more closely match handguns like the 1911 or Staccato® 2011® by reducing the angle by approximately 10 degrees. This means your Glock® now points more naturally, offering faster and more intuitive aiming and greater potential for accuracy.
  • Improved Grip Profile: The backstrap is designed to fill the palm of the hand and help keep the Glock® pistol on target. Our law enforcement test partners noted that it was easier to keep the dot visible in their optic window during rapid fire with this backstrap installed. The backstrap’s contour also tends to reduce the tendency for new Glock® shooters to pull shots off target when the pistol shifts in the hand during the trigger press.
  • Durable Polymer Construction: The outer shell is made from abrasion-resistant, rugged nylon, designed for maximum durability. Combined with a black oxide treated stainless steel mounting pin for easy, non-permanent installation, this backstrap stays secure and performs under even the toughest conditions.
  • Shock-Absorbing Rubber Insert Included with 2-Piece Models: The soft rubber insert is engineered to reduce felt recoil in the web of the hand, offering an extra layer of comfort and stability. Its novel design helps mitigate the impact of each shot by flexing inward when compressed, allowing for quicker and more accurate follow-ups and less hand fatigue during extended range sessions.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q: Does this product fit pistols from Shadow Systems®, Palmetto State Armory®, or any other clones? A: No, our backstraps will not fit anything other than genuine Glock® pistols with the sole exception being that our Gen 1-3 backstraps will fit the GlockStore M1X/26X frame.

Q: Does this product fit the Glock V models? A: Yes.

Q: This product is not compatible with G20/G21. Do you plan to offer a version for large frame G20/G21 models? A: Unknown. So far, we have not made a prototype that was acceptable to the people who signed up to test them. It appears difficult to make a backstrap that keeps the large frame G20/G21 pistols from becoming uncomfortably large.

Q: What trigger reach should be expected with the different backstraps installed? A: The shock-absorbing version of our backstrap for Gen 4/5 G17, G19, etc and the shock-absorbing backstrap for G43X,G48 increases trigger reach to approximately 2.9-3.0 inches, or similar to what the OEM medium backstrap provides on a Glock® gen 4/5 pistol. This was the ideal trigger reach we found for medium-sized hands and makes it easier to pull the trigger straight to the rear for the greatest possible accuracy. The one-piece, thin backstrap (without shock-absorbing insert) for Gen 4/5 G17, G19, and similar models provides a 2.8-2.9 inch trigger reach. The one-piece, thin backstrap (without shock-absorbing insert) for Gen 1-3 G17, G19, and similar models provides a 2.9-3.0 inch trigger reach.

Q: Does this stack on top of existing backstraps or on top of rubber grips from other companies? A: No, this is a standalone backstrap.

Q: Does this work with grip tape from other companies? A: Yes, but the tape may need minor trimming to allow the backstrap to fit. We recommend using our own grip tape with this product.

Q: How long will this take to ship? A: We try to ship in-stock items within one to two business days. If it is out of stock, there will be a clear notice about the item being “On Backorder.” We will notify you if there will be an extended ship time, and there is no charge to cancel a backordered item.

Q: Do you offer discounts? A: We offer a discount to those who are serving the public and putting their lives on the line, including military service members and veterans, LEO, firefighters, EMS and other frontline medical workers, security professionals, and those in similar roles. The discount program is on the honor system; do not send us your credentials. Please use the code SERVICE5 during checkout. We cannot apply this discount retroactively.

Q: Is this actually made in the USA? A: Yes, the products and even the printed labels are made in the USA, and our team packages and ships everything from our own warehouse in Michigan.

Q: Who is Kiral Defense? A: We are a sister company of Noisefighters (a trusted name in the night vision and hearing protection accessories markets and in business since 2016). Kiral is focused on firearms accessories and launched at SHOT Show 2025. Both companies are owned and operated by a service disabled U.S. Marine Corps combat veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan. The company is based in Lowell, Michigan, just east of Grand Rapids. We do not have a retail location and cannot allow customers to pick up orders from our warehouse.

Q. How do you pronounce the company name? A: Kiral is pronounced similarly to the word viral but with a K (i.e. kai-ruhl / k-eye-ral).
