The Kiral Defense™ Shock Absorbing, Reduced Angle Backstrap for Smith & Wesson® M&P® 2.0 (9mm/.40 frame only) is an innovative upgrade designed to enhance your pistol’s ergonomics and recoil management. It fits both Full Size and Compact grips. Please select either the POLYMER or METAL frame so that we can provide the correct mounting pin for your specific pistol. Please note that the factory S or M marked palmswell grip inserts must be used in conjunction with this product, as the factory ML and L marked palmswell grip inserts include features that directly interfere with our product’s installation.

  • Failsafe Design – The firearm remains fully functional even if the backstrap is damaged or removed. Importantly, for professional users who must comply with organizational rules on weapon modifications, the installation does not permanently alter the weapon.
  • 1911-inspired Grip Profile – This backstrap adjusts the grip profile to better match the classic 1911 by filling in the area where the web of the hand touches the pistol. This reduces the grip angle, increases comfort, and provides improved speed of sight acquisition and reduced muzzle flip for faster sight tracking.
  • Shock-Absorbing Polyurethane Insert: The backstrap’s flexible rubber insert is engineered to reduce the amount of felt recoil delivered through the web of the hand, offering an extra layer of comfort and stability. Its innovative design and material helps mitigate the impact of each shot, allowing for quicker and more accurate follow-ups and less hand fatigue during extended range sessions.
  • Extended beavertail – Added length to the beavertail allows for a higher, more secure grip to reduce the bore axis and improve recoil control. This feature also prevents slide bite for those with larger hands.
  • Improved Trigger Reach – By extending the distance to the trigger, this backstrap improves finger placement on the trigger for those with medium and larger hands, allowing for a more controlled and consistent press. This leads to improved accuracy and a smoother shooting experience.
  • Durable Polymer Construction: The outer shell is made from abrasion-resistant and aggressively-textured nylon for maximum durability and grip. This backstrap stays secure and performs under even the toughest conditions.
  • Compatible with either the factory S or M marked palmswell grip inserts installed: Also, please note that the factory palmswell grip inserts can be swapped without needing to remove this Kiral Defense backstrap.
  • Includes extended mounting pin: A hardened alloy steel pin with nitride finish is included. A specific pin made for either the Polymer frame or Metal frame is included.
  • Made in the USA
  • Patent Pending

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q: Does this product fit other pistols not listed, such as the original M&P (1.0), the M&P22, the Shield, or anything else with the word M&P in the name? A: No, this product only fits the M&P 2.0 in 9mm/.40 frame size.

Q. Why would you want to change the grip angle on the M&P 2.0? The goal with this product is to improve the ergonomics of the grip in order to produce more accurate, faster shots on the competition timer and in other high-stress situations. The grip angle reduction is less drastic than with our backstraps for Glock® pistols, but it is still noticeable and it helps make the pistol point more naturally and allow for quicker sight acquisition. The change to the grip profile is especially helpful in rapid fire and one-handed shooting, as our extended beavertail allows the user to grip higher than normal (reducing the bore axis) and better mitigate muzzle rise. The Kiral Defense backstrap and our silicon carbide grip tape helps take the M&P 2.0 to the next level of performance.

Q: What trigger reach should be expected? A: With both the factory 2.0 trigger and Apex Flat Faced Forward Set trigger, expect 3.0 inches of trigger reach. This should be very comfortable for those with at least medium-sized hands.

Q: Does this work with grip tape from other companies? A: Yes, but the tape may need minor trimming to allow the backstrap to fit. We recommend using our own grip tape with this product.

Q: How long will this take to ship? A: We try to ship in-stock items within one to two business days. To be clear, the words, “In stock (can be backordered)” means that the item is in stock at that very moment and could eventually be backordered if it went out of stock in the future. If it is actually out of stock, there will be a clear notice about the item being “Out of Stock” and available to backorder at that very moment, and we would likely include a separate message about the estimated backorder wait time.

Q: Do you offer discounts? A: We offer a discount to those who are serving the public and putting their lives on the line, including military service members and veterans, LEO, firefighters, EMS and other frontline medical workers, security professionals, and those in similar roles. The discount program is on the honor system; do not send us your credentials. Please use the code SERVICE5 during checkout. We cannot apply this discount retroactively.

Q: Do you offer T&E for law enforcement and other professional organizations? A: Yes, please email [email protected] with your T&E request from your official account.

Q: Is this actually made in the USA? A: Yes, the products and even the printed labels are made in the USA, and our team packages and ships everything from our own warehouse in Michigan.

Q: Who is Kiral Defense? A: We are a sister company of Noisefighters (a trusted name in the night vision and hearing protection accessories markets and in business since 2016). Kiral is focused on firearms accessories and launched at SHOT Show 2025. Both companies are owned and operated by a service disabled U.S. Marine Corps combat veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan. The company is based in Lowell, Michigan, just east of Grand Rapids. We do not have a retail location and cannot allow customers to pick up orders from our warehouse.

Q. How do you pronounce the company name? A: Kiral is pronounced similarly to the word viral but with a K (i.e. kai-ruhl / k-eye-ral).
